The ground work...
Carike Nel accumulated her BA degree in fashion design from LISOF- now known as STADIO in 2013.
She has designed dresses and costumes for various artists and specializes in couture gowns.
She was awarded with the all-round best design student at LISOF for 2012 and best Avant-Garde range for 2013. In the following year she won Cirque magazine’s New Young Talent award.
She styled and designed dresses for various artists’ music videos like Lianie May’s dresses in Naweeklyfie, Volmaan performed by Leah, Tweede Kans performed by Riana Nel, Tyd performed by Nadine and plenty more.
She designed dresses for Afrikaans is Groot for artists such as Riana Nel, Leah, and Corlea and has worked with Elizma Theron for her wardrobe in Krone.
She worked with Charlize Berg to design all her gowns worn in the Pantomime Doringrosie.
One of her designs featured on the Cover of the DEKAT magazine, worn by Donnalee Roberts.
She was nominated for a SAFTA for best wardrobe design for the film ‘Susters’ featuring artists like Leah, Diaan Lawrencen and Quanita Adams.
Her current ambassadors are multiple award-winning music artist Leah, and Mini Miss SA winner 2020/2021- Clarissa Mileham.
Currently Carike has her own studio and absolutely loves making custom made gowns for clients, and designing gowns, costumes and avant-garde gowns. She manages her work area closely with her team.
Entering the fashion industry at a young age Carike has a lot of aspirations for the future. So watch this space!
